
This is a brief overview of the Oracle9i new features and enhancements that have been made to performance, scalabaility, ease of use and management. Suggestions for further reading and links to other Oracle resources are available here.
With Oracle 9i, Oracle
continued to enhance the database in many areas but particularly in terms
of support for large customers (unsurprisingly as they spend the most money
and have the most demanding requirements) by increasing performance and scalability
but at the same time making
the database easier to manage thereby reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO), and balancing the demands of accountants, developers/dbas and the users.
Changes have been
