Oracle 11g DBA Certification

Initially, Oracle database certification was only available to DBAs but has now been extended to cover developers and system administrators. This article covers the certification paths for DBAs.

Oracle DBA Certification

Certification for DBA  is available for Oracle 11g and Oracle 12c and has three levels:- Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate (OCA) Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional (OCP) Oracle Database Administrator Certified Master (OCM)

Oracle 11g DBA certification

The first level is Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) which Oracle describe as a foundation or apprentice qualification enabling you to act as a junior team member. To become an Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) you have to pass 2 exams. One of Oracle Database 12c SQL Fundamentals  (#1Z0-061)  or Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I (#1Z0-051)  or Oracle Database SQL Expert  (#1Z0-047) and Oracle Database 11g Administration I (#1Z0-052). The next stage is to become an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP). This requires you to have obtained the OCA level, take at least one Oracle University Oracle 11g DBA hands-on course as well as pass another exam - Oracle Database 11g Administration II (#1Z0-053). Once you've qualified as an Oracle Certified Professional, the next stage is to become an Oracle Certified Master. For this you need to take at least 2 advanced courses from Oracle University and then pass a 2-day practical exam on database configuration etc. You're not allowed to use your own notes but you are provided with a complete set of Oracle documentation. That’s the mechanics of Oracle database certification but if you're wondering whether or not certification is worth the trouble then see this article on Oracle certification benefits and see our resources page for links to OTN and other sites offering help with certification. ------------------------------------------------------- Oracle tips and tricks Subscribe to our newsletter, jam-packed full of tips and tricks to help you slash costs, sky-rocket productivity and make your systems better, faster and smarter. © Smartsoft Computing Ltd, Bristol, England Tel: 0117 924 7646 Need help?
